First Swim Lesson

October 29th was Lucas's first swim lesson at the Y. Mom and dad both got in the water with him while grandma and grandpa watched them. Lucas was so funny he kicked and splashed like crazy. He tried to eat the bubbles when daddy blew bubbles in the water and then he made a yucky face when he tasted the water. He didn't seem to mind getting his face all wet when he splashed so much. There were about 10 babies in the water but Lucas was definitely having the most fun! He acted like he wanted to just be let go and he would swim away. In the class they sang nursery rhymes and did actions to them like Humpty Dumpty and 3 Little Monkeys. Mom wasn't too crazy about the songs so she handed Lucas to Russell and he sang all the songs with the group. It was so fun to watch him. He gets to go to Hawaii on November 12th so I'm sure he will have lots of fun in the ocean! He can go swim with his 2nd cousin Benjamin, Josh and Puna's little guy who has already been in the ocean.

Halloween 2011

Halloween is actually on Monday but we took these pictures the day before because we were going to be back in Wenatchee on Halloween. Lucas wasn't very happy at the time but we still got a few good shots of Tigger!

Lucas's first swim

Today Emily called to say that Lucas went swimming. She and Russell took him to the YMCA pool. He loved it! Emily said he just kept kicking and splashing and smiling. He stayed in about 20 minutes and loved the whole thing. I said, "Of course you took tons of pictures" but the Y doesn't allow any pictures being taken. I can't wait to go see him in the pool. They have signed him up for swim lessons starting in a couple of weeks. They tried putting Lucas in American Lake this summer but it was too cold and he screamed as soon as his toes touched the water. He really loves his bath though.

Lucas 6 month check up

Lucas had his 6 month check up today and was 17 lbs 12 oz. Emily thought he would be way bigger because he weighed almost that much at his 4 months check up. But Lucas has been rolling all over the place to get to his toys and is up "sort of" crawling. He gets up on all fours and starts moving forward then lunges and gets back up. It's definitely faster than rolling where he wants to go. I'm sure he'll be crawling like crazy before long.

Four Generations

Great Grandma and Grandpa Kofford came to Washington to visit in June so we were able to get a 4 generation picture when Lucas was 3 months old. They both loved to hold and snuggle with Lucas. Great grandma was a pro at putting Lucas to sleep, the only problem was it usually put her to sleep too. We had lots of fun visiting together at American Lake where there new summer home is with Manny and Sherrie.

WHO are YOU?

Don't you think they look like twins? I love Lucas's hair. Some days it looks pretty wild just like his monkey's hair. He is about 3 months old in this picture. He is sitting in his rocking chair in the nursery on the blanket that Great Grandma Valena made for him, with a little help from Grandma Glenna.

Lucas's first Easter

We had Easter dinner at Auntie Melanie's house. Lucas was all dressed up in his fancy clothes and looked so cute. Grandma Glenna and Grandpa Dave gave him his first Easter Basket. You can see how excited he was about it. He was just content in his little bouncy vibrating chair. I told Emily in the "olden days" the bouncy chairs were just a metal frame with a netting around it and if you wanted it to bounce or vibrate you were the one sitting nearby pushing your foot on the frame to make it bounce. I'm amazed at all the new gadgets for babies now - they are great! Wish I would have had a few when Joey, Melanie and Emily were little.
